We Use a Patient-Centered Approach
We believe that each patient is unique. At Chesapeake Bay Aquatic & Physical Therapy, we’ll access your case on an individual basis before continuing with your care. We understand that each person heals differently, has unique needs, and will respond well to different methods. That’s why we work to excel in all areas of physical therapy, including:
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is for everyone. Whether you’re an athlete recovering from a torn ACL or a broken bone, or an individual dealing with a work-related injury or chronic pain. Physical therapy takes many forms, and our physical therapists handle each case on an individual basis. We use aquatic therapy, manual therapy, and pain prevention methods to deal with a variety of health issues, including arthritis, vertigo, migraines, and back and muscle pain.
Pre-Operative Physical Therapy
A preliminary study done in 2009 found that a six-week physical therapy program helped increased the recovery time after total knee replacements. Undergoing regular physical therapy treatments before a major therapy builds strength and range of motion, two things that are most frequently lost as a result of surgeries. Pre-operative physical therapy can lead to shorter hospital stays, saving you money, and quicker progression throughout the rehabilitation process.
Post-Operative Physical Therapy
While surgeries are performed to repair damage to ligaments, muscles, or organs, they also decrease strength and range of motion. Individuals who have undergone surgery must undergo physical therapy just as a professional athlete would. We used both aquatic and land-based therapies.
Dry Needling
Dry needling stimulates myofascial trigger points under the skin by using thin, filiform needles to penetrate the skin. Dry needling therapy addresses dysfunctions in the body, leading to increased activity. We’ve had success treating patients with neck, shoulder, elbow, back, calf, hip, and knee problems with this method.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio tape is a latex-free tape that mimics skin. It can be worn for days at a time and is water-resident. Kinesio tape is particularly helpful for patients with orthopedic, neuromuscular, and neurological problems because it reduces inflammation and swelling.
Laurel Wellness Program
The Laurel Wellness Program is a guided environment designed to help patients achieve wellness goals. It has two tiers, a basic membership, and a platinum membership.
